Applied Ballistics Munitions' tagline is "Built in the Lab, Proven in the Field." This means that our Ballistician builds and tests our loads in his lab, but it also means that our ammunition has been field proven. Below you will find field results that have been shared with us by loyal ABM customers like you. Daniel MouaWhile on a Spring Bear hunt in Washington, my cousin and I hiked through the thick timber; we stumbled upon a big chocolate bear staring us down at 40 yards. The bear ran 10 or so yards right at us and stopped to look at us again. With a close range shot, I aimed right at his chest and squeezed the trigger. The bear ran less than 10 yards and piled up. The entry wound was the size of a chicken egg. The bullet expansion did great damage to the lungs and pieces of the bullet still exited out of the rib cage of the bear. ABM Ammo performed great and exceeded my expectations. This is the perfect ammo for the job when hunting big game.
Matthew OlsenMy son Matthew kicked butt – beating even more competitors this time and getting a better score than in his previous match. Really challenging weather the first day: rain, 15-20 mph wind, and 40-45 degrees. Both of us shooting laser-like ABM 308 Winchester 175gr OTM Tactical rounds – 2740 ft/sec out of my DTA SRS with 26” barrel and 2617 out of Matthew’s Crescent Custom with 20” barrel – both Bartlein. Of course, dad still beat him -- however, I’m not sure how much longer that’s going to last.
John WhitlatchMy friend Jay Christopherson helped me build my first F-TR rifle and considering I work overseas and don’t really have a lot of time for reloading, we ordered a reamer and built the rifle to shoot ABM Ammo’s 308 Winchester 185 gr Juggernaut loads. I have never shot competitively before in any discipline, but showed up to my fist match and shot a 600-34X after only shooting 40 rounds for break in and zero! I’ve since shot my second match and scored a 600-38X and now have a total of 172 rounds through the rifle, all with my underpowered FFP hunting scope mounted on the rifle. I am looking forward to an optics upgrade and increasing my X count. Bottom line, ABM Ammo offers the quality and consistency it takes for repeatable results at a higher level than 90% of the re-loaders in the game. None of this would have been possible without ABM!
Matthew OlsenMy son Matthew will be 10 years old next month and he is already making second and sometimes first time round hits as far as 1050 yards and 1260 yards in winds of 5-15 miles per hour and elevation of 4,500 feet. ABM has helped him hit targets at closer distances as well, which were still difficult shots due to position and/or size of the target.
Troy BennettAfter returning from deployment I only had a week to get everything ready for our hunt. My hunting partner, Lance, and I hiked four miles to a spot I found on google maps where I was certain we would find some good bulls. Within an hour we spotted three. They bedded down and we began to make our way towards them. We heard a crash and knew they had busted us. The bulls ran up the opposite mountain but paused just long enough to get a perfect broadside shot. I harvested this 5x5 bull at 500 yards with a single shot, ethical kill, which should be the number one goal for every hunter.
Chip HarnageThis image is from my first time trying out my new rifle at 1,000 yards with ABM Ammo. Other ammo I've tried at this distance just doesn't land on target.
Josh GreneWe are covered with hogs in Georgia. This morning I took four in total. The two pictured here were taken at about 150 yards with a single shot. One was lined up behind the other when I took the shot, and they both dropped like a dish rag. This ammo is great!
Jim SpinellaI used this ammo for Extreme Long Range shooting out to 1800 yards and was very impressed. At 100 yards, I was getting three shot groups measuring .257" across and velocity deviation over five shots was less than seven feet per second. The best part is that this load crosses over into 338 Lapua Magnum territory, which I shoot frequently for ELR applications, but at half the price! I couldn't be happier with this load and product. Great, GREAT product!
Joshua H JonesMy goal is to start getting involved with F-Class Competition. With that in mind I recently attended a three day training class with a Lewis Machine & Tool 308MWS, a Vortex PST MOA scope, and ABM OTM 175gr ammo. I sighted out to 100 yards and worked out to 500 yards. In total I shot 600 rounds of ABM Ammo in three days without a single mis-fire or mis-placed shot due to the ammo. In the end, I was capable of driving sub-moa shots at 500 yards on command. This ammo made me look like I had done this before, when in reality this was my first time to shoot past 300 yards!
Allan SegalABM Ammo provides consistent trajectory with minimal lateral deviation in the wind out of my Remington 700. The 300 Win Mag 185gr Berger Match Classic Hunter delivered a single shot immediate kill to this 6x6 bull elk at 380 yards in a 12 mph cross wind.
Australian VetsThe results from Camp Perry 2014 speak for themselves. All of our four man team shot ABM Ammo at Camp Perry in 2014. Of us, our notable results follow: 4 man Commodore Perry (Vets) - Gold Medal, 4 man Mini Palma (Vets) - Bronze. Geoff Evans finished Day 1 1000 yards with a silver and day 6 100 yards in 9th, ending in 8th place overall in the 800,900,1000 agg. Peter Maher had a sliver metal on the day 6 agg, was in 5th for the day 2 600yd match after a shoot off, 4th on day 4 at 300 yards, silver on day 4 at 600 yards, and a bronze at day 6 1000 yards and finished 14th overall in the grand agg. Our 2015 team will consist of 12 shooters and 3 coaches, all of who will be using ABM Ammo.
David BollingUnder 1" at 200? That'll do. This group is out of a Remington 700 .308 winchester with 16.5" barrel, manners stock, and Timney Trigger. These three shots were taken at 200 yards in a little wind. Very repeatable results and flat shooting. I need more ammo!
Michael BonamicoI was well beyond pleased with the grouping I achieved. I thought I was missing, but they were all just going into the same hole! I shot these rounds out of a Remington 700 AAC-SD with a 20" barrel and AICS stock.
Jack CauseyThis 5 shot group was taken at 100 yards with about 15 seconds or less between shots out of my Accuracy International AXMC 308 with a Surefire Socom can. A picture is worth a thousand words. All I can say is, wow! This has to be the best ammo one can buy!!
Nick VitalboABM Ammo has performed great in my OBR. I'm easily holding elevation on 12 inch steel plates out to 1,000 yards - showing a standard deviation in muzzle velocity of about 10 fps! We are so confident in this ammo that use ABM to validate electro-optics, to get truth data for wind sensor arrays, and for solver validation.
Sam BarrI cracked the top ten (tied for ninth) then I tied for first on a stage. There was a target with two 10" or so steel plates at either end of a pole attached to the frame in the middle so it would spin. At 200 yards, we had 6 shots to spin it completely around. I made it in 3.
The competition's 6mms were having a bit of trouble flipping that guy over. A few smacks with ABM's 308 175gr OTM Tactical got it done.
